PASTOR'S NEW YEAR MESSAGE*
December 2007
"As we now look ahead to the arrival of 2008 we must remember the message of the angels that the Savior is born and we must keep him with us as we enter the New Year. The New Year usually finds us vowing to do things different than we did the year before. We’ll strike up new attitudes, new motivations, and some new goals to go along with them. Hopefully you will include a review of your church life of 2007. How was your attendance at Sunday worship or Sunday School. It would be wonderful to have you join us in Sunday School and Wednesday night prayer and Bible Study. Did you support the afternoon worship services offered by the different ministries of New Hope? Did you support the expenses of the church by the giving of tithes and offerings? With the moving of several families last year the trustees reported a shortfall in our annual budget. Our financial problems have also been affected by the rising cost in fuel and related operating expenses. But we were yet able to meet our ongoing expenses through the reallocation of selected dedicated funds. If you were not tithing in 2007 I pray that 2008 will be the year of change for you. God has continued to bless us often in spite of us. It is now time for us to bless God with our obedience. Join me and let us work together in 2008 in fulfilling the call on our lives as witnesses and servants. As I look ahead to the New Year I am excited about the upcoming initiatives such as Holy Hip Hop Worship Service which will focus on today’s young people. It is imperative that we find a way to make worship an integral part of the lives of our young people. We must not only seek them out, we must allow them to feel that they are important and welcome to join the body of Christ. I am also excited about the possibility of our sailing together on a cruise ship in July."
Sincerely,
Pastor Hilson/
